North American­ Car of the Year Features Extensive Use of Aluminum

The Chevrolet Bolt EV—featuring an aluminum hood, front fenders, doors and liftgate—wins North American Car of the Year during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The Bolt is the first all-electric vehicle to win the coveted award. The Chrysler Pacifica, which shed 250 pounds with the help of aluminum, took home top honors as utility of the year.
